Air Pollution and Obesity – Interesting Facts

As per a research study conducted by Dr. Pierre Brochu, School of Public Health at the Université de Montréal in Canada, as the obese breathe in more air than individuals with normal weight, the former are more prone to inhaling air pollutants.

According to the research study, class 2 obese individuals (with a body mass index (BMI) between 35 and 40) breathe in almost 50% more air pollutants, thereby exposing them to ammonia, sulphur dioxide, ozone and other respiratory irritants which can cause asthma and other pulmonary diseases.
